BACK TO THE FUTURE

The Q is back in original condition, after new inner barrels for the rear wheels. I had them mounted on Saturday after this happened:

Anyway, I missed driving this beast! <3

rebuilding japan from LA event

So, I found an entire set of model photos from this event… Awkward… Hilariously enough, Andrew and I weren’t even there all day. We found a huge 9K Racing decal smack dab on the middle of the windshield after we got back. How disrespectful -___-

Take a look at the original article here…

Wayne posted this photo of the Q that we took when it was still on MAEs. Classy.

current progress

Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve posted here. My car’s totally changed in the past few months.

Here’s some visuals of what’s transpired since I last posted (about the FYC cruise, if I’m not mistaken):

Then I sold the wheels.

I got new FLCA’s.

The car now looks like this:

The new wheel spec is 18×10 ET-6 18×12 ET-7, with Nankang NS-II in 225/40 and 255/35, respectively. The car now has a straight pipe exhaust setup, terminated with 3″ Magnaflow tips (the car still has all of the emissions control equipment — we just got rid of all the old piping, resonators, and mufflers. The car sounds bossy now).

Recently, though, I picked up a set of S13 Zeal Super Functions. Those will be getting dropped off at Endless/Zeal USA for a rebuild and revalve. I’m thinking of going 22/18 kg/mm spring rates for this iteration. Hopefully Ganesh at Endless/Zeal gets back to me soon about what length spring I should be running. I still need S14 ABS spindles/hubs, S14 rear upper pillowball mounts, and brakes — I can either bore out the S14 spindles for the stock Y33 brakes, or I can do S14/Z32 brakes. I’ve been seriously considering just going BBK, but I still need to do some measuring of the front wheel caliper clearance. If I got a BBK, I’d like to do a 6-piston, 380mm setup in the front, so inner diameter clearance on the Stitches might be an issue. Anyway, I have the fitment template in hand, but I haven’t had the time to take the wheel off and actually measure the damn clearance.

One of my new year’s resolutions is to post here more often. Let’s see if I can stick to that goal.

Happy new year!

video!

Pancakes and Brokey33 setup a meet on VSC (totally last minute, might I add) and I swung by.

Here’s a video that Pancakes made:Quick stroll.

By the way, my plans have changed — I’m no longer getting spacers. I’m saving up for modded FLCA’s instead; this way, I’ll be able to dial in more front camber AND space out the front track, so I can go more flush without a large spacer. Awesome! I’ve already talked to Alex Pfeiffer at Battle Version about doing the work; I just need to save up some spare cash.

New tires

I got new tires for the Q last week — Nankang NS-II’s in 255/35/18 for the rear. They’re freaking awesome. I was scared they’d rub and take out the fender, but they fit perfectly. I’m also picking up 15mm spacers for the front sometime soon, and fixing the ride height issues I’m having (the right side of the car is higher, for some reason — I think I was inattentive when I lowered the car last and the springs on the driver’s side have probably settled). Anyway, I found some photos of the Q online, ’cause Andrew and I decided to show up at a Sunday afternoon meet two weeks ago.

metro infiniti ftw!!!

I swung by Metro today to get an oil change. I’ve been taking the Q there for maintenance since I bought it. Today they let me hang out in the shop area with their senior tech, who walked through the inspection with me and made me aware of some of the issues — nothing major, but it’s good to know, anyway.

That was one of the best dealer service experiences I’ve had. Awesome. Take your Infiniti to Metro!

updates

I really haven’t updated at all in a long time; I’ve been busy with my personal and company lives.

Here’s what’s going on with the Q:

I bought a TPMS setup at an Autobacs in Japan last time I was there and I still haven’t installed it.

I aligned it again. The car’s rear camber is now around -6.8*. The front is still around -4*. We took the car up to Nor-Cal again and it did well.

Someone tried to break into the car last week. They used a rock. It scratched the glass pretty deeply in 3-4 places. They also destroyed the chrome trim that runs along the bottom of the glass, but from studying the FSM, it doesn’t look that hard to replace.

Other than that, the car hasn’t been changed any. I’m getting a pair of Hella yellow H3 bulbs tomorrow to replace the burnt out ones on my car. Hopefully I can get my sideskirt and chrome trim fixed soon.
